PasteClean ("we", "our", or "us") is built with privacy as a core design principle. We believe your content belongs to you and should never be transmitted, stored, or accessed by us.

This Privacy Policy explains how data is handled for:

• The PasteClean Chrome Extension
• The PasteClean website (pasteclean.app)

These two products have different data practices. Please review the relevant sections carefully.

Chrome Extension Privacy Disclosure (Required by Chrome Web Store)

This section applies only to the PasteClean Chrome Extension.

Summary

The PasteClean Chrome Extension:

• Does NOT collect or transmit user content
• Processes text entirely locally in the browser
• Stores only non-content user preferences locally
• Uses limited network access only for user authentication and subscription verification
• Does NOT use analytics or tracking
• Does NOT display advertisements
• Does NOT sell or share user data with third parties

Chrome Extension Data Handling

User Content & Clipboard Processing

When you copy text from a supported website:

• The extension temporarily intercepts the text in memory only
• All formatting cleanup occurs locally using JavaScript
• The cleaned text replaces the original text in your clipboard

The original and cleaned text are held only in transient runtime variables for the duration of the copy operation.

At no point is clipboard content:

• stored
• logged
• transmitted
• accessible to PasteClean servers or third parties

Authentication & Subscription Verification (Chrome Extension)

The PasteClean Chrome Extension includes a sign-in feature to verify access to paid features.

What data is used

• Email address as the unique user identifier
• Subscription status

How this data is used

• To authenticate the user
• To verify whether the user has an active subscription
• To enable or disable the extension accordingly

What is NOT transmitted

• Clipboard contents
• Copied text
• AI prompts or responses
• Website content
• User activity telemetry

Authentication is handled via PasteClean-controlled services or a trusted authentication provider. PasteClean does not receive or store user passwords.

Local Storage (Chrome Extension)

The extension stores only user preference settings using chrome.storage.local.

Stored values may include boolean preferences such as:

• autoCleanEnabled
• showToast
• removeBold
• removeItalic
• removeEmojis
• removeLinks
• removeBullets
• replaceSpacing

These settings:

• Are stored only on the user's device
• Contain no user content
• Are never synchronized or transmitted
• Are removed when the extension is uninstalled or browser storage is cleared

Third-Party Services & Network Access (Chrome Extension)

The PasteClean Chrome Extension makes limited network requests solely for authentication and subscription verification.

The extension does not:

• Send clipboard contents or copied text
• Send AI prompts or responses
• Use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs
• Display advertisements
• Share data with advertisers or data brokers

All text processing remains local to the user's browser.

Website Privacy (pasteclean.app)

This section applies only to the PasteClean website and does not apply to the Chrome Extension.

Website Content Processing

Text entered or pasted into the PasteClean website:

• Is processed locally in the browser using JavaScript
• Is never transmitted to PasteClean servers
• Is never stored or logged
• Is permanently discarded when the page is refreshed or closed

Website Analytics

The PasteClean website may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand aggregate usage (such as page views).

If analytics are used:

• No pasted or processed text is collected
• No personal content is accessed
• Data is aggregated and anonymized
• No cross-site tracking is performed

Website analytics do not apply to the Chrome Extension.

Data Security

Because user content is processed locally and never stored on servers, PasteClean does not maintain a database of user content.

Security is enforced through:

• Browser sandboxing
• Local-only processing
• Minimal data collection principles

Children's Privacy

PasteClean does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age. The service does not require account creation to use core features.

Your Rights

Because PasteClean does not collect or store user content:

• Data access, deletion, or portability requests do not apply to content
• Users retain full control over local settings and authentication data
• Extension settings can be removed by uninstalling the extension or clearing browser storage

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in legal requirements or product behavior. The "Last updated" date will be revised accordingly. Continued use of PasteClean constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
